East Coast Modular Homebuilder
North American Housing has a rich heritage in both building and building supply industries dating from 1876. Formerly a division of the Barber & Ross Co., our corporate ancestors participated in varied endeavors from supplying hardware for our nation’s Capitol building to introducing the first roof truss into the Washington area in the 1950’s. After supplying thousands of panelized structures throughout the area, the Company shifted to modular technology in the 1960’s. In 1971, the Barber & Ross descendants sold their housing division, whereupon the company was re-named North American Housing.
Drawing upon a tradition of innovation and creativity, the company developed products and processes that revolutionized the infant modular housing industry. The use of multiple modular sections to create townhomes, two-story homes, and offices, set the stage for today’s sophisticated technology.
With an unyielding commitment to the highest quality product at a competitive price, supported by exceptional service, the Company continued to develop new product lines and markets while expanding and adding production facilities through the 70’s and early 80’s. In 1987, the Company acquired Continental Homes, a modular housing manufacturing company with complimentary products and markets to the North and South of the company’s own operations. The combined organization brings together a group of people with literally hundreds of years of building experience, making North American Housing Corp. one of the leading industrialized builders of modular homes in the United States.
On July 31, 2006, the Company was acquired by Champion Homes, a publicly traded company with a nationwide presence in the United States as well as Canada and England. North American Housing's affiliation with Champion opens the door to new opportunities in technology, purchasing power and innovation that will enable the Company to continue on the path of leading edge technology into the 21st Century.
Since 1971, the North American Housing organization has built tens of thousands of structures, including single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums, apartment buildings, banks, motels, schools, medical clinics and resorts. Today, the Company’s manufacturing capabilities include two strategically located factories supplying builders from New Jersey to North Carolina.
